Salary Advancement

We’re excited to share important updates to the Increment Credit system for Professional Development that applies to our TEACHERS and SSPs.

These changes are designed to make professional learning more accessible, flexible, and connected to the work, while creating additional opportunities for eligible learning to count toward advancement on the salary schedule.

What’s changing?

1. No Cost for Increment Credit
Teachers/SSPs will no longer be required to pay a fee to receive Increment Credit for eligible professional learning.

2. Professional Learning During Contract Time Now Counts!
Eligible professional learning completed during the contract day may count toward Increment Credit without requiring a Teacher/SSP to use professional leave. NOTE: If the professional learning is optional and takes place during the contract day, professional leave should be used.

3. Credit Can Be Earned in 0.25-Hour Increments
Increment Credit can now be earned in quarter-hour (0.25) increments, providing more flexibility and allowing additional learning experiences to count toward advancement.

4. More Opportunities for Out-of-District Learning
Eligible professional learning completed outside the District may also qualify for Increment Credit when it:

  • Aligns with District priorities and completes the applicable review/approval process; and
  • Connects to current role and professional responsibilities.

As a Teacher/SSP…

What does this mean for me?

These changes mean:

  • More learning opportunities can count toward Increment Credit.
  • Credit can be earned more flexibly, including in 0.25-hour increments.
  • Financial barriers have been removed for Increment Credit.
  • You have more opportunities to use professional learning to support advancement on the salary schedule.

How can I add credits to my bank?

Eligible professional learning credits that you take through D11 Professional Learning will automatically be added to your credit bank in the Professional Learning Platform (PLP). For increment credits earned outside of D11 (graduate credits, conferences, workshops, etc), you will go into your PLP and complete the ‘Outside D11 PD Hours’ request. Additional information and resources are available and linked below to help you understand the updated process and track your credits.

What about professional learning that I completed before August 1?

Professional learning completed before August 1, 2026 will follow the previous Increment Credit process. Note that any eligible unused increment credit will be moved to your credit bank.
