Doherty Student Wins First Place at Skills USA National Leadership and Skills Conference
Colorado Springs School District 11 is proud to announce Joseph Barry, Doherty High School junior, won first place at the USA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC). Joseph topped all the other high school competitors from across the country, earning him the NLSC Gold Medal in Automotive Maintenance and Light repair. This was his first ever attempt at the Skills USA Title in automotive. Joseph was awarded tools for his career from Toyota, Milwaukee Tools, Gates, Napa, and Snap On Tools, and a discount from Cengage training.
In addition, Doherty 2018 graduate Ian Gregor competed in College-Level Auto Service Technology and earned the NLSC Gold Medal in Auto Service Technology. Both Ian and Joseph are qualified for the World Skills USA event in Beijing, China in 2023.
