Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so very welcome during my transition as your new principal for next year. I am currently finishing my fifteenth year in education; eight years as a high school and middle school teacher and coach, and the last seven years as a dean of students, assistant principal, and principal in Lewis-Palmer School District. I am a fellow westsider with my wife of twelve years and our three children. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, running, hunting, skiing, camping, and generally being outdoors with friends and family.
I believe that my passions in education are very much aligned with the culture and expectations of the Holmes students, parents, and staff. A school thrives when a community can support one another, and where diversity, creativity, and critical thinking skills are celebrated and encouraged. I believe that building relationships with parents and the community is critical to ensure that all students are engaged in their education and successful in their pursuits. Please look for different avenues that open up to ensure those partnerships are sustained.
Middle school is a stepping stone from foundational learning to application learning, and invaluable for helping students form the habits of success needed for their future academic pursuits and social-emotional well-being. During this time, students also have the opportunity to delve into the subjects they are passionate about with curriculum in place that will prepare them to reach their future goals. I am very excited to be a part of the Holmes community and will work to build on the culture in place that allows students to find their individual pathways to success and build meaningful relationships amongst all school stakeholders.
