Pikes Peak Regional Science and Engineering Fair
Odyssey ECCO represented at the Pikes Peak Regional Science and Engineering Fair
Ayla, Kayden, and Kayvee participated in the Pikes Peak Regional Science and Engineering Fair (PPRSEF) held at UCCS on February 22nd, 2025. They presented a project in which they studied the impact of varying light settings on the growth of three cultivars (Red Romaine lettuce, Escarole, and Kohlrabi) and their resulting edible mass yield. The study was the second trial of the Growing Beyond Earth (GBE) project that involves a partnership between NASA and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. They developed a proposal for assessing the potential of those cultivars as a nutritional source for astronauts during long-term space travel.
They received the Flagline.com Award for young scientists at PPRSEF.
