Meet the Weblings: D11’s Next Generation of Web Experts

District 11 Career and Technical Education, in partnership with CareerWise, has provided three D11 students with an exciting opportunity to gain real-world experience as the Webmaster Apprentice and Interns. Working alongside the District 11 Webmaster, these students are developing valuable technical and professional skills while helping support the District's online presence.

Throughout the two year apprenticeship/internship, students learn how to create, update, and maintain websites using a professional content management system. They gain experience with web design principles, accessibility standards, digital content creation, search engine optimization (SEO), image editing, quality assurance, and troubleshooting. In addition to technical skills, they strengthen their communication, project management, problem-solving, and collaboration abilities by working with departments across the District to deliver accurate, engaging, and user-friendly web content.

This summer, the Webmaster Apprentice and two Interns, collectively known as the Weblings, have been hard at work preparing District and school websites for the new school year. From implementing new features and accessibility improvements to updating content, refining navigation, and supporting major district initiatives, the Weblings have played an important role in ensuring families, students, and staff have a seamless online experience as they head back to school.
