Field Trips

 

Field trips are an important part of the educational experience in District 11. To ensure a safe, organized, and enriching outing, all field trips must follow district policies and procedures.

Policy – Field Trips

As of October 12, 2016, the Board of Education approved revisions to Field Trip Policy IJOA and Regulation IJOAR. Key updates include:

  1. Risk Management Review is no longer required for standard or non-standard field trips.

  2. Standard Field Trips now require only the school principal’s signature for approval.

  3. Non-Standard Field Trips must be approved by both the school principal and the area superintendent.

  4. Out-of-Country Field Trips require approval from:

    • The School Principal

    • The Area Superintendent

    • The Superintendent

    🔔 Important: Notify the Risk Management team at least 3 months in advance for any out-of-country field trips.


Planning a Field Trip? Follow These Steps:

  1. Submit a Field Trip Request Form
     

  2. Obtain Necessary Approvals

    • Based on the trip type (standard, non-standard, or out-of-country)

  3. Collect Signed Parent/Guardian Permission Slips

    • Include emergency contact and medical info

  4. Arrange Transportation

    • Use only district-approved methods

  5. Prepare a Detailed Itinerary

    • Include contact numbers, supervision plans, and timelines


Chaperone Guidelines

  • Chaperones must be approved by the school

  • Background checks may be required

  • Must understand and follow district supervision standards
