Doherty Mock Trial
What is it?
Making both sides of a hypothetical case, when given 6 witness statements. Students play against other schools in a real courtroom with real judges and attorney's giving them points. Regional competition are in February and state competition is in March.

eSports League
What is it?
Fortnite, League of Legends, SMITE, & Rocket League players compete against other high school teams in Colorado. Weekly matches are organized by PlayVS. The cost is $0-$64 depending on the game selected. Commitment to team practices and grade checks are a requirement.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) *
What is it?
Family, Career adn Community Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences. Involvement in FCCLA offers members the opportunity to expand their leadership potential and development skills for life -- planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, adn interpersonal communication -- necessary in teh home and workplace. FCCLA promotes personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the mulitple roles of gamily member, wage earner adn community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowldege, and career preparation.

What is it?
Doherty's Forensics team allows students to perfect their speech and debate, speaking, and performance skills by training and ceompeting in meets against other school. Students must attend at least one practice per week and two during competition weeks.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) *
What is it?
FBLA is the high school division of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. FBLA helps high school students prepare for careers in business through in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs. High school students explore college and career opportunities through a number of cocurricular educational programs. Members take part in competitions, networking events with accomplished business professionals at conferences, and community service projects. Plus, members havea exclusive access to scholarships from a select group of academic institutions.

Mathletes
What is it?
In mathletes, we explore mathematics that we don't always get to see in math classes. We try to do fun and challenging math/logic problems in our meetings and at a coupl math competitions so that, hopefully, our love for math grows even stronger.

What is it?

Origami Club
What is it?
In Origami Club (OC), kids will have the opportunity to learn the ancient art of folding paper. The OC is a great place to relax, make friends, and create some amazing pieces of art! We will participate in Spartan Spotlight, where we will teach attendees Origami!

Outdoors Club
What is it?
Colorado Youth Outdoors exists to build relationsships through outdoor recreation. CYO's programs engage parents, mentors and teens in outdoor activities, including fishing,m trap shooting, fly tying, archery, anf more. Praticipants in our program grow closer as they discover new things about natural resources and outdoorsmanship.

Science Olympiad
What is it?
Science Olympiad is a national competition with 23 different events. Some events are knowledge based, while others are buildign events. Our regional event takes place early spring and the top half of competitors will qualify for the State event held in April.

What is it?

Spartans Unity in Action
What is it?
A club where everybody belongs. We embrace diversity by creating a school climate where everyone feels part of our Spartan community. We celebrate an array of cultures by connecting with people different from ourselves both inside and outside the walls of our building. We expand our cultural awareness by going on field trips and hosting speakers and training throughout the year for staff, students, and community at large. We prepare students for work and life in a global society after Doherty.

Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)
What is it?
The SWAT club is accompanied by a grant from El Paso County. We work to educate students and staff against the dangers of nicotine, from cigarette smoking to vape use.

VEX Robotics Team *
What is it?
The VEX Robotics Competition, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, is the largest adn fastest growing middle school and high school robotics program globally with more than 20,000 teams from 50 countries playing in over 1700 competitions worlwide. Each year, an exciting engineering challege is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their advisor, build innovative robots and compete year-round. In addition to learning valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork, perserverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical thinking. The VEX Robotics Competiton prepares students to become futureinnovators with 95% of participatnts reporting an inceased interest in STEM subject areas adn pursuing STEM-related careers.

What is it?
What is it about Young Life club that makes it the best night of the week for thousands of kids every week? We like to think of it as a party with a purpose. It's controlled chaos that's almost impossible to describe, but kids know it when they see it.
