Anne Muehlbauer

I grew up in Colorado Springs, graduating from Wasson High School!  I attended the University of Northern Colorado for Elementary Education and Special Education/Severe Needs.  I completed my student teaching in Brisbane, Australia in a grade 5 class.  That was an amazing experience and I learned so much about other cultures and myself. I received a Master’s Degree in Special Education in 1986 and another Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2001.

I have been a special education teacher for 36 years, all in Colorado Springs except for a year in Gilbert Arizona.  I have worked in all areas of special education, mainly focusing on behavioral intervention and reading instruction/intervention at all grade levels.  I was a behavior interventionist in Harrison District for several years, working with teachers and parents in the district to develop strategies and interventions to assist students to become successful members of the school and community.

I began teaching for School District 11 in 2013.  I retired in 2020 amidst the Covid shutdown.  That will be a great story to tell my grandchildren!  This is my third year teaching part time at West.  I absolutely love the staff here, and the special education team is amazing!

I enjoy spending time with my grandsons, family, and friends, working out, traveling, stand up paddle boarding, and going to concerts (especially Springsteen)!
