Hello! Welcome to my Teacher Page! My name is Ms. Atencio and I am the Drama and Journalism teacher at Galileo Middle School. Born and raised in Colorado Springs, I attended CSSD11 schools from kindergarten through high school graduation (Go Palmer!) and I am so excited to be returning to the district as a teacher. I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2018 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Theatre with an emphasis in Performance, though most of my professional theatre work has been done on the technical side as a stage manager and director.   

In my classroom, your students will be learning how to create and perform pieces of theatrical art. We will be learning how to use our bodies as instruments of performance, as well as how to keep them healthy and happy during performances. We try our hand at elements of design in the theatrical world, such as lighting, set, and costume designs. Students in my journalism class will learn how to identify and report on important pieces of news from around the world and the Galileo community. Our student newspaper, The Paw Print, will be updated monthly with articles written by our very own Galileo Bulldogs.
