    Dear Sabin Families,

In these unprecedented times, the Admin team and staff at Sabin Middle School is working collaboratively to develop a plan that allows us to wrap up the school year as effectively as possible.  We were all disheartened with the announcement that distance learning would remain in place in Colorado for the remainder of the school year, and at the same time, the safety of your children is our top priority.  Please see the plan below outlining critical dates and deadlines for the end of the school year.

    Distance Learning:

Students will continue to engage in distance learning through the end of the school year. All assignments and resources will continue to be posted on Schoology or through email.

May 15:           Last day for new assignments to be given out

May 19-22:      Staff members are available to support students with completing work

May 22:           Last day of school

    Returning School Materials and Technology:

As the school year closes, we will make every possible effort to return personal items from lockers to students and to collect school resources back from students.  Items that must be returned include, but are not limited to: text books, library books, books borrowed from teachers, athletic uniforms, etc.  All band and orchestra students must return their musical instruments as well.

Please follow the assigned pick up / return times: The time is assigned by the first letter of the student’s last name.  In order to ensure an efficient process please arrivewithin your student’s designated time.

We will be adhering to all state and district mandated social distancing guidelines.  Our primary goal is to minimize potential spread and exposure as we navigate this process. Parents as you bring students to the scheduled pick up / return day, we ask that families stay in their car the entire time.

NOTE:  Our school policy states that students should not share lockers.  When personal items are distributed back to students, they will be given to the individual assigned to each locker number.  It is the responsibility of students who have shared lockers to return items to the proper owners.  Sabin Middle School is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items per guidelines outlined in our Student Handbook.

    Thanks,

    Jared Welch, Principal

    Thanks,

Let me begin by saying how much we miss all of our students. We are concerned with your and your students' health and well-being. Although none of us were prepared for this situation, our teachers, support staff, parents, and students have risen to the occasion.

As you know, Sabin is here to serve you and your students. Our goal is to continually serve our community regardless of the changes that distance learning requires we make. That is just what we are doing from afar to help our most valuable assets - your children. The next few weeks will not be easy. There will be mistakes, problems, and concerns along the way; however, there will be more successes, happiness, hope, laughter, fun, and purpose. We understand many of you are still working, have several children to help, and potential financial concerns and health issues. We are here to support our students and you throughout this challenging time. Please do not stress over the school work via distance learning. Frustrations are high due to our circumstances and we do not want to increase the stress on our families. We are going to do our best to provide schoolwork to keep our student's minds moving forward but you are the parents, and they are with you, so you have control to adjust as needed for your child/children. We encourage you to reach out to us. We are all focused on the success of your students. We also ask for your patience and understanding as we travel this new territory. Our staff is working long hours from home while dealing with their new, but temporary, normal. Sabin is a community, and we will continue to support each other for success.

    Thank you,

    Jared Welch
