• Hello Cougar Nation,

I am so excited to be entering my 4th year at Columbia.  As we move forward after the last three challenging years, I am confident we will do great things and students and families will have a stronger sense of connection with the Columbia Community.  As Principal I  am proud to be part of such a wonderful, diverse, and thriving community as Columbia Elementary.  The teachers and staff at Columbia are doing amazing things with student learning and I am passionate to guide these practices in the future.

Prior to being Principal at Columbia, I was an Assistant Principal at Galileo School of Math and Science for three years.  I have a diverse background working in the public school system.  I hold a Masters Degree in Social Work and have spent several years of my career in this capacity at both the elementary and secondary levels. Additionally, I was an instructor for transition-aged students for over 10 years and provided district-level professional development for 8 years.

As we move forward I am proud to announce that Columbia has been selected to be an Arts Integration Pathway by D11.  We are honored and excited to dive in and engage in this work and know it will benefit students' learning as we move forward.  During the 2022 - 2023 school year we will be setting the stage for more in-depth and full engagement of this work in the 2023 - 2024 school year.  You can watch a short video LINKED HERE on the North Caroline A+ model which will be guiding our work and the implementation of Arts Integration.

The entire Columbia staff and I look forward to an amazing year working with our loving community in order to grow, challenge and take all student learning to new heights!
