Ms. Claudette Murtha

Salut!  Welcome to our website!  My name is Claudette Murtha and this is my 6th year teaching French at Palmer.  I'm currently teaching French 5/6 SL and 1 combined class of French 7/8/9/10 SL.  I have a bachelors degree in French and a minor in Spanish from University of Northern Colorado, Greeley.  I also have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphsis in English as a Second Language (ESL) and a Masters in Educational Leadership.  While I still get to teach three classes at Palmer High School I also serve as district corrdinator for World Language.

I believe in using Comprehensible Input as much as possible (90% or more) in the classroom.  I also believe in using stories, authentic materials and some explicit grammar instruction.  I believe students should be able to practice/product language from the very first week of class.  We all learn in different ways at a different pacing but we are all created to be communicators so language acquisition is a natural part of who we are as individuals.  I'm always open to learning and trying new methods in my classroom.
