Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Diana Newell, and I am a Colorado native, and a product of Colorado Springs School District 11. After graduating high school, I went to play soccer on an athletic scholarship in Kansas, but I missed Colorado too much, so I came home. After I earned my BA in Psychology, I worked with kids who have special needs doing ABA therapy. I truly loved that job. Shortly after that, I became a one-on-one paraprofessional for a young boy who had special needs. I loved working in a school, so I decided to pursue my degree in Elementary Ed. I received my Master’s degree from Colorado College. I strive to create a welcoming environment in which my students can be successful. This includes flexible seating, working while we listen to music, and creating fun chants and songs that help us remember confusing things. At the start of the school year, I invite students to have one-on-one lunch time with me, which helps me get to know them better and build positive relationships with them. We start every morning with a morning affirmation and review our classroom rules. During the weekends, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking the Incline, and cooking in the kitchen!
