Teaching Background/history

I started teaching in 1989 after graduating from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in secondary mathematics education. I obtained my Master''s degree (M.Ed.) from City University (Seattle) in 1997 in Currlculum and Instruction. I taught in Portland, Oregon from 1989 - 1991, Seattle Washington from 1992-1998, Pleasanton California from 1999-2000, and here in D11 from 2000 - present. This is my 31st year in teaching! :-) I taught middle school math (mostly 8th grade) for 17 years before moving up to high school mathematics. This is my 7th year here at Coronado. Before arriving here, I taught at Palmer High School for 6 years and Sabin middle school for 7 years.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that all students can succeed in my class. I will do everything I can to help this be a successful year for all students. I sitll subscribe to a lot of my middle school teaching philosophies - learning should be fun, hands on when possible, classwork done in class and little take home work to do, and your grade in class should demonstrate both your knowledge in the class as well as your work ethic.
