Karl Heffernan has had an eclectic past, with a wide range of interests. Since his own elementary school days, he has enjoyed math and the challenges it presents. However, he made a unique decision in college and received a Bachelor's of Arts in Theater. Theater Arts challenged him to stretch outside of his comfort zone and stand and perform in front of others. He took both his early love of math and confidence in the stage to become an elementary school teacher.

Over the years, Mr. Heffernan has tutored high schoolers in SAT Math, worked with students with autism, and taught in 7th, 6th, and 5th grade with an emphasis on math. He had taught 5th grade from 2014-2017 and is now a Math Specialist at Martinez Elementary. Mr. Heffernan brings a love of math and energetic nature to math classes in grades 3 through 5 to help support both students and teachers.
