Mr. Tim Adkison
I am Tim Adkison, North's Library Technology Educator.
I work with all teachers to teach students how to:
• find information,
• use information,
• properly cite the source of information,
• and learn ideas, methods, and concepts by drawing from a wealth of experts.
This is the Age of Information, and how we use information and how we find information is constantly changing. The concept I teach is called Information Literacy. I believe that Information Literacy and writing are concepts that need to be connected. Just as, in early grades, reading and writing have to be learned in conjunction with one another, so in later grades, the proper use of information, writing and critical thinking are all inter-related. This document attempts to explain my reasoning about this concept.
Teaching your students is a high honor as well as a privilege. I do not take it lightly, but I endeavour to honor your trust and teach your children as I would wish any teacher to teach mine (I am a lifetime resident of Colorado Springs, and my own children both graduated, as did I, from great School District 11 schools).
