Greetings, current and future families! My name is Catherine (Cathy) Mlodzik, and I teach 3rd grade. This is my seventh year at Freedom and my 17th year teaching here in Colorado Springs. I have taught second and third grades for the duration of my career.
I have a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction focusing on Culturally Linguistic Diverse Education. Also, I have a specialist degree with a focus on Administration and Leadership. Presently, I am working on a doctorate in Education.
I am originally from a small Minnesota town 80 miles from the Canadian border. My town is so small that we only have two stoplights! We came to Colorado Springs after my husband retired from the military. After his retirement, he became a teacher, too!
I have two daughters, one who was in the Navy and now works for a contractor in Texas. The youngest is a graduate of the University of Wyoming...GO POKES! Presently, she is working on her master's and waiting for the news if her novel will be published (this would be her 15th published work).
I love working at Freedom! In my class, I believe all students can learn. Also, we all make mistakes and are expected, respected, inspected, and learned from. In my classroom, we are family! When your student is in my classroom, they will be part of a family and a community that works together, supports one another, and students work collaboratively.
We have many exciting opportunities in the classroom and in the after-school clubs Freedom offers.
I look forward to the honor of having your child in my classroom! I cannot wait to meet you!
