Welcome! Thanks for checking out my teacher page.
History:
I was born and raised just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Shortly after my high school graduation, I enlisted in the United States Air Force. I served the country for four years, primarily stationed at Hill AFB, Utah. After my discharge from the Air Force, I moved back to Illinois and began the college chapter of my life. After a few years passed and a move to Colorado, I finished my studies at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, graduating in 2008 with my bachelors degree in elementary education. After graduation, I worked in District 49 for two years, serving as a substitute teacher in various roles until I was hired on at Grant Elementary in District 11. I am currently working on my master's degree in curriculum and instruction.
Years at Grant Elementary:
This is my tenth year teaching fifth grade at Grant Elementary. I enjoy making a difference here, both in the grade level and at the school. My son, Niklas, is a third grader here, as well. I am a co-sponsor of Grant's Student Council, as well as the teacher PTA representative for our staff.
Likes/Interests:
My family and I enjoy outside activities. Camping is definetly a priority in the summer months.
I am Chicago sports fan, as well as a supporter of Air Force Falcons athletics.
I consider myself lucky to be at Grant teaching your kids every day. Teaching fifth grade is my niche. I enjoy both the age level of the students and the challenging curriculum the grade level presents. I know parents have choices as to where you send your children, so I take my job seriously and put in a tremendous amount of time and effort proving you made the right one with Grant Elementary.
