Thank you for taking the time to visit our class site! Let me begin by giving you some background on me. I grew up in the mountains of Southwestern Colorado, on a ranch. I grew up caring for many different kinds of animals; cows, horses, chickens, ducks, pigs, goats and even a couple emus! My siblings and I spent most of our time outside, running and playing and caring for our many creatures. I grew up with a love of animals, and a love of nature, which led me to study Biology. Initially, I attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, studying Marine Biology. After a year there, I found myself working with at risk students and that quickly became the most important thing in my life. Once I realized I loved working with children more than I loved research biology, I changed careers to Education and returned to my home state.
I graduated with a Bachelor's in Biology from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2016, with a license to teach Elementary Education. I began teaching fourth grade the following year, and have been fortunate to stay in the same grade! This is my first year at Fremont Elementary, and my second year teaching 4th grade and I could not be happy or more excited to have a wonderful school year! I am an educator now, but my love of animals remains and I have several pets, including a dog named Tuesday, quite a few fish and a cornsnake, who will be a guest in our classroom along with our class fish tank!
I went to very small schools, and was fortunate enough to have teachers who made a difference in my life. I became an avid reader, a passionate researcher, and endless questioner under the guidance of excellent educators. It is my hope that I can do the same for my students here at Fremont!
