    HALLOWEEN COSTUME DAY: We are celebrating Halloween on Wednesday this week.  Costumes are allowed and encouraged on Wednesday.  The same rules apply as in the past:

    • No overly gory, bloody, or gross
    • No weapons or replicas of weapons including, but not limited to: hatchets, axes, knives, guns, rifles, clubs, etc.
    • No overly revealing, thin, sheer, or suggestive clothing.  All school dress codes apply
    • Students my need to adapt to the classroom setting, ie:  deflate, take off gloves, etc. to accomplish school work. There is NO REQUIREMENT this year to wear a costume, but we are strongly encouraging all students to bring in a canned good to help with Hawks Help.  

    HOLMES BOOK OF THE YEAR: The 1st Holmes Book of the Year Donut Day is Wednesday, October 27th. If you have read and taken the test for 2 Holmes Book of the year books you will get a free donut in the library on October 27th. Visit the library for more information.

    VETERANS DAY: We will be doing an assembly for Veterans Day in November to thank our military community for their service to our nation and our freedoms. If you are interested in being a speaker at this assembly, a speech audition will be held in Ms. Napper's room, orchestra room 3, next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday after school. You MUST sign up for a time on the signup sheet outside Ms. Napper's room.  If you ride a bus or have a conflict, please speak with Ms. Napper directly and she will set up a different time for you.     GIRLS TRACK: Good morning Hawks! Last evening girls track competed and did not disappoint to a large group in attendance. The ladies soared and had many personal records. The team hopes to carry this momentum into Monday's final track meet of the season. Great effort last evening!     HOLMES FOOTBALL: Your "A" squad football team had a game against Sabin last night. The Hawks worked hard after losing to Sabin in our 1st game of the year. Your Hawks not only won last night, they didn't allow Sabin to score a single point! Great game Hawks!

    INTRAMURAL BOYS BASKETBALL: Good morning Hawks! Intramural boys basketball will meet every Monday morning. Also, intramural dodgeball will meet every Friday morning. Both activities will be run in the gym, start at 7:30 a.m. and will run until 8:30 a.m. Students need to enter through the southwest entrance to the gym. If you have any questions, see Coach W in the gym.

    MILLER'S FARM: Any Holmes family who would like to join Mrs. Gauck at Miller's Farm to pick vegetables - pick up a flyer in the front office or check the Holmes website. Picking date with a discount is this Saturday, September 11th.

    HOLMES FOOTBALL: The B-Squad football team displayed a great team effort on the gridiron last night against the Jenkins Jags. The Hawks rallied in the 2nd half and what would have been the winning touchdown, was called back on a holding call. The Hawks will get back after it tonight on the Holmes practice field.     HOLMES FOOTBALL: Your Holmes A-Squad football team played a tough game against Russell last night. Your Hawks were able to pull out the win by a core of 46 to 7. Go Hawks!
