About Our School

Adult and Family Education Program is multifaceted, consisting of morning, afternoon, and evening classes for students aged 17 and older in the following areas:
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
- Adult Secondary Education (ASE)
- ASE prepares students for the GED exam
- College and Career Prep
- Math and Language Arts for students who already have a diploma
- Family Literacy
- Parent-And-Child-Together (PACT)
- Parent Time to support childrens literacy development and success in school
- Providing high quality, age appropriate early learning.
- Foster parent literacy improvement that leads to economic self sufficiency.
The mission of Adult and Family Education is to provide quality educational experiences that equip all students for success as parents, citizens, and workers. For students ages 17 and over, Adult and Family Education offers Adult Basic Education, Adult Secondary Education (often known as High School Equivalency Preparation), and English language classes for non-native speakers of English. Adult Education students who live within District 11 boundaries have the option to participate in the Family Literacy program, where they bring their children, ages 6 weeks through 5th grade, to school with them. While parents attend Adult Education classes, the children receive age appropriate literacy instruction.
Group instruction is provided in classes of no more than 20 students, and classes have dedicated time in the computer lab each week. Adult and Family Education teachers are required to have a Colorado Teaching License and the Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA)
At Adult and Family Ed, you can choose which high school equivalency exam YOU want to take. Click here to learn about the differences between the GED, HiSET, and TASC.
