Dear Scott Elementary Families and Friends,
Welcome to Vera G. Scott Elementary School! Whether you are new to Scott or a returning student and family, we look forward to you being a part of the Scott Wolf Pack and hope you become active and involved in our school. At Scott we are extremely proud of our school, with its caring family atmosphere and strong academic programming. We feel certain that you will share in that pride. We are excited to work alongside you and your children as they learn, grow, and succeed academically, socially, and personally. Our expectations are high: we expect the very best for and from our students.
I believe that Scott Elementary must strive to do whatever it takes to offer an outstanding education to each child, every day. Preparing students for an unknown future is our charge as educators. Our students need to be well-rounded, critical thinkers who are capable of accessing information, evaluating it, forming opinions and making decisions, and collaborating locally, nationally, and globally to conceptualize creative solutions. Harvard Innovation Education Fellow Dr. Tony Wagner says, “In today’s world, it’s no longer how much you know that matters; it’s what you can do with what you know.” Our students will be able to demonstrate that they can do a lot with what they know!
Our #1 goal is to improve student learning. Regardless of where students begin the year, we want to help them in advancing their foundational academic knowledge, skills, and understanding and their ability to solve problems, as well as promote their skills as critical thinkers, collaborators, communicators, and creators.
If at any time you have a question about what is occurring in your student’s class, please contact your student’s teacher. Your child’s classroom teacher is always the place to start. If you still have concerns, then please contact me. My door will always be open so students, staff, families, and community members can come forward with questions and concerns as they arise.
I am honored to serve as Scott Elementary School's principal. It is my sincere pleasure to be able to work with Assistant Principal Gallegos; our dedicated, expert staff; and every student and parent to make 2017-2018 one of the best school years ever.
I look forward to partnering with you and collaborating with Scott's families and faculty to best meet the needs of all of our “wolves.”
With Pack Pride,
