Greetings Galileo Bulldogs!

My name is Michael McDowell and I am honored and thrilled to serve as the 6th Grade Assistant Principal/Athletic Director for the 2022-2023 school year.

I have been involved in K-12 education for over 25 years in different capacities.

I have lived in Colorado Springs since 1969.  In my free time I enjoy golfing, camping, hiking and traveling with my wife to different parts of Colorado. I earned my undergraduate degree from Adams State University and my graduate degree from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

I am looking forward to an awesome year of building relationships and exceeding expectations.

Welcome to the start of another fabulous year!  My name is Laura Kosley and I am excited about joining the Bulldog team!  This is my fourth year here at Galileo, and my 15th  year in education.  I look forward to working with all the students and families.  I am a Colorado Springs native and went to Galileo when it was East Middle School years ago. I received my bachelor's in education from Regis University and my master's in education leadership at Regis, as well.  

As an educational leader, I offer my dedication and commitment to a quality education for all our students.  Our team is dedicated to creating and maintaining a positive school culture that celebrates and innovates our students, including learning and growth opportunities for the whole child.

My name is Karen Van Bemden and I am so excited to be Assistant Principal for Galileo School of Math and Science for the 2022-2023 school year. This is my 17th year in education. For the last six years, I have been the Library Technology Educator here at Galileo.

My husband and I have lived in Colorado Springs for 27 years. We enjoy skiing, hiking, camping, traveling, and spending time with our grown children, all of whom live in the area.

I received my bachelor’s degree from Calvin College (now University) in Grand Rapids, Michigan and my master’s from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
