  • SEND HUNGER PACKING

    Dear Chipeta Community,

Did you know that we “Send Hunger Packing” each week by sending kids home with a backpack full of food to feed their families over the weekend?

We sustain this program through food donations from our community. Our families rely on these backpacks and we need your assistance in sustaining our program. Please donate to this worthy cause by bringing in non-perishable food donations. We have donation tubs near the office and outside of classrooms.

Our most needed items are Cereal, Oatmeal, and Breakfast Bars, Crackers, Snacks like pretzels, goldfish, or nuts, Canned Chicken and Tuna, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Spaghetti Sauce, Noodles, and Rice. Please no glass jars or perishable items. Also , please be aware that we are unable to accept food that it past it’s expiration date.

Additionally, you are invited to make a direct donation to Chipeta Elementary School and we will use this to purchase needed food items.

Please direct any questions to Phyllis Gius, 4th grade teacher, or to the front office.

  • The 2020 census count will be how the Federal government determines the amount of money that will be given to our schools for the next ten years. Most of the programs funded from the count are for serving our students living in low-income households and students with disabilities. Historically the ten-year census has undercounted populations in large urban areas like ours, and we would like to work towards making sure our community is properly funded with an accurate count. Everyone counts. Learn more at www.2020Census.gov
