Background Checks
District 11 requires all volunteers who perform their duties without supervision of a District 11 employee to submit to an extensive background check to include being finger printed and as we do potential employees. A preliminary background check is conducted on a monthly basis through a computer generated random list of individuals registered as a District 11 volunteer. Results of all background checks are shared with school administrator.
Background Checks for Teachers and Executive/Professionals:
Prior to employing any applicant in a Teacher or Executive/Professional position, the District, in accordance with state law, shall conduct a background check concerning such applicant with the Colorado Department of Education (“CDE”) and previous employers regarding the applicant’s fitness for employment. In addition, during the employment of any Teacher or Executive/Professional by the District, the District may, in accordance with state law, conduct a background check concerning such Teacher or Executive/Professional with CDE.

Background Checks for Education Support Professionals (ESP):
Prior to employing any applicant for an ESP position, the District, in accordance with state law shall conduct a background check concerning such applicant with the Colorado Department of Education (“CDE”) and previous employers regarding the applicants fitness for employment. Applicants may be conditionally employed prior to the District receiving the fingerprint results. However, he or she may be terminated if the results are inconsistent with information provided. During the employment of any ESP by the District, the District may, in accordance with state law, conduct a background check concerning such employee with CDE.
