Gifted and Talented at Colorado Springs School District 11 is committed to providing challenging experiences for all learners that build on individual strengths and optimize academic potential.
What is Gifted and Talented?
Gifted and Talented seeks to provide gifted students with opportunities for greater learning than the ordinary curriculum would provide them. Gifted Students are defined as students are capable of high performance, exceptional production, or exceptional learning behavior by virtue of any or a combination of these areas of giftedness:
- General or specific intellectual ability
- Specific academic aptitude
- Creative or productive thinking
- Leadership abilities
- Visual arts, performing arts, musical or psychomotor abilities

Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs)
Gifted students and their families will create an advanced learning plan at the start of the year, this plan will set out goals for the year so that students can focus their effort better.

Our Personnel
Colorado Springs School District 11 employs a full-time Gifted Education Facilitator, a Gifted Programs Specialist. Gifted Resource Teachers (GRT) are assigned to every building with full-time equivalents ranging from 0.2 to full-time. Teachers for the Gifted Magnet Program (GMP) are assigned to the GMP schools.
