Mission Statement
The mission of the school counseling program is to support students in realizing their personal and academic potential and progressing through school, while also partnering with staff and the community to enhance student achievement and development, by promoting learning across academic, career, and social/emotional domains through individual planning, guidance curriculum, responsive services, and system support.
Supporting the Whole Student
School Counselors are essential to preparing students to be successful learners and empowered citizens. Through the implementation of comprehensive counseling programs, school counselors support student academic success and planning for postsecondary options (higher education, workforce, military), teach skills to help manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills, and support in crisis situations.
Part of a Comprehensive Student Support Model
District 11 School Counselors support implementation of the Comprehensive Student Support Model. This framework supports school-wide initiatives focused on creating welcoming and academically rigorous environments and focused, individualized supports to help every child in D11 become future ready!
