Work-Based Learning is a continuum of activities that occur, in part or in whole, in the workplace, providing the learner with hands-on, real-world experience. 

Work-Based learning involves; Site Visits, Recorded Informational Interviews, Work Readiness Training, Job Shadows, Internships

-Students go to a facility to observe and follow professionals in the industry.  They can ask questions, watch, and learn.

-1/2 day to full day per job shadow

This is a great way for students to see firsthand what a day in the life looks like in a certain industry/pathway.

-Students spend 60-120 hours at a site to test their interest in a career within the industry, occupation, and/or employer.

-Students can earn high school credit for completing their internship

-Students will spend over 1,000 hours (depending on apprenticeship) with an employer.

-Employers provide students with hands-on career training, education, and a paycheck.

-Apprentices can earn college credit for their apprenticeship and gain skills and credentials needed to work in an industry.
