Applying for D11 Preschool
Colorado has transitioned to the Universal Preschool (UPK) system as of January 17th, 2023!
All 4-year-olds will be awarded at least 15 hours of free preschool through UPK. Some 3-year-olds will be awarded 10 hours of free preschool. If your 3-year-old did not qualify for Universal Preschool hours, you may still submit a preschool application through our website here. 3-year-olds will be placed on a wait list for their preferred school.
Here are the steps you need to take to apply for D11 preschool classrooms:
1) Visit Preschool Applications
2) Use the UPK link to go to the UPK website, and enter some simple information in order to get an "award" telling you how many hours of free preschool your child qualifies for. Proof of income is the only documentation you will need for the UPK application.
3) After receiving your "award," you can begin browsing for preschool programs. The site will allow you to submit up to 5 choices, in order of preferece. All D11 preschools will be listed. D11 will work to place students in their first-choice school. For your best chance at getting a spot in D11 preschool, we suggest also selecting other D11 preschool locations for your other choices. This will increase your chances of getting access to D11 programming, rather than being "kicked out" of our system. Please be sure to read the program descriptions for information about sessions and hours.
4) When your request has been approved by the provider you selected, you will be notified. That provider will then reach out for next steps related to completing enrollment. It may take a few weeks to receive your notification.
