A Peak Experience is a signature D11 learning journey that connects classroom learning to authentic, real-world experiences.

Each Peak Experience is intentionally designed to help students apply their learning, explore their interests, develop future-ready skills, and discover connections between school and life beyond the classroom.

Peak Experiences are supported by district approved core curriculum and instructional resources that are integrated into classroom learning.
Students engage in lessons, activities, and learning experiences before and after the culminating experience to deepen understanding and strengthen connections to academic content.
 

A field trip can be a valuable learning opportunity, but a Peak Experience is much more than a single event. One of the things that makes D11 Peak Experiences unique is that every student has the opportunity to take part in a progression of meaningful experiences throughout their educational journey, not just a select group of students or individual classrooms.

Peak Experiences are connected to classroom learning and are designed as complete learning journeys. Students prepare in the classroom before the experience, actively participate during the experience, and reflect on what they learned afterward. Instead of simply observing, students apply what they have learned in meaningful, real-world settings. Every Peak Experience is connected to the curriculum and helps students build knowledge, skills, and confidence in authentic ways.

Families play an important role in extending learning beyond the classroom. You can support your student's Peak Experiences by:

• Asking your student about what they learned before, during, and after the experience.
• Encouraging reflection and conversations about what they discovered, enjoyed, or found challenging.
• Attending exhibitions, showcases, or other culminating events when possible.
• Helping your students make connections between their experiences, classroom learning, and future goals.
• Participating in Peak Experience Take-Home Activities, which provide fun and meaningful ways to continue learning and engagement at home.

Together, families and schools help students make lasting connections that extend learning beyond the classroom.
 

D11 welcomes partnerships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, government agencies, and community leaders interested in supporting authentic learning opportunities for students.
