Penrose Elementary - A Project Based Learning School

  • Why Project Based Learning?

Project Based Learning (PBL) is an  instructional approach that  focuses on inquiry. Given an essential question, students work collaboratively on projects to address issues specific to our community.

Here is a great example about Penrose PBL Projects.  Our Kindergartners identified a real world problem, with kids not having enough warm clothes and toys on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.  They spent weeks learning about what kindness and caring really are, then decided to gather up gloves, hats, coats, and toys to donate to those in need.  Check out the story about it below:

    Staff Spotlight: Counselor Brooke Morgan

Penrose is the home of many incredible educators, but we were honored this year when it was announced that our very own Mrs. Brooke Morgan was named D-11 first Counselor of the Month!  Watch the video below to see how Brooke is helping ALL of our students to be even more successful.

Would you like to "choice" your student into Penrose from a neighboring district/school?

Continuing our dedication to high quality Project-Based Learning, we are happy to announce that Mrs. Bitner has won a sizable grant from Crayola!  This will help provide art supplies, crafting materials, and additional funds for our building that will help us to provide colorful options for our students when creating their new and exciting PBL projects!
