Project Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional approach that focuses on inquiry. Given an essential question, students work collaboratively on projects to address issues specific to our community.
Here is a great example about Penrose PBL Projects. Our Kindergartners identified a real world problem, with kids not having enough warm clothes on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. They spent weeks learning about what kindness and caring really are, then decided to gather up gloves, hats, and coats to donate to those students in need. Check out the FOX21 news story about it below!
Penrose wins Crayola Grant!
Continuing our dedication to high quality Project-Based Learning, we are happy to announce that Mrs. Bitner has won a sizable grant from Crayola! This will help provide art supplies, crafting materials, and additional funds for our building that will help us to provide colorful options for our students when creating their new and exciting PBL projects!
Original Works Was a HUGE Success
On behalf of Mrs. Swayne and all of Penrose Elementary, we want to say 'Thank You' for one of our most successful seasons with Original Works! We love our families and their committment to supporting their children's art. A portion of each purchase is also donated back to the Penrose Art Program and we appreciate your help with providing art supplies to our next generation of young artists!
