  • A Little bit about Ms Karen Kight:

    I first ventured to Colorado from upstate New York to train at the Broadmoor World Arena with the legendary coaches of Christa and Carlo Fassi in figure skating. I fell in love with Colorado Springs and met my husband Jim, who was stationed at Fort Carson. 

    I taught in the public school system for 10 years before leaving in 1998 to become a full time mom! I stayed at home raising 4 boys with my husband. When my children reached the point of entering school, I found a Montessori preschool and fell in love with the methods of Montessori. When our oldest was ready to enter first grade, Buena Vista opened the first Public Montessori school in Colorado Springs. Our three older boys all attended BV and thrived in MS and HS and now college from the foundations they were taught with the Montessori method! When our youngest was born, I went back to achieve my Montessori Lower Elementary certification and eventually opened a private school in my home where I taught a small group of children for two years at Friendship Montessori. Our youngest is now here at BV with me.

    Personally, I love baking, scrapbooking and crafting, outdoor adventures, the Colorado Rockies and my beloved Buffalo Bills. I continue to coach figure skating (Basic Skills through National level skaters) at the Colorado College. I am a triple gold medalist from the United States Figure Skating Association in field moves, freestyle and ice dance and was a national ice dance competitor.

    Creative juices run continuously in my brain so beware!

    I am so excited to be part of the wonderful team at Buena Vista where I personally saw my own children thrive and succeed!
