Degrees and Certifications:

B.A., Music Education, Buena Vista University M. Ed., Educational Technology, American College of Education

Mr. Cory Hanson

I grew up in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated with a degree in music education from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa. I taught middle school and high school marching band, concert band, and jazz band for six years in Davenport and Riverside, Iowa (future birthplace of Star Trek's Captain James T. Kirk).

In 2013, I moved to Dublin, Ireland. There, I worked with Irish volunteer organizations and spent a lot of time traveling around Ireland and Europe.

After three years in Ireland, I moved to Colorado Springs and joined the Keller team in December of 2016. Since becoming the music teacher at Keller, I have been proud to continue the tradition of live student performances with twice yearly Kindergarten plays, an annual first-grade dance recital, December musicals for second and third grade, and spring musicals for fourth and fifth grade. It has also been my honor to perform with the Spirit Singers after-school choir and Rockin' Roos after-school guitar club at home and at the Spartan Spotlight at Doherty High School.

In February 2020, I completed a Master of Education degree in Educational Technology from American College of Education.

I live with my wife, Sara, and my cat, Ellen Jenkins. In my spare time, I like to hike, play old video games, and follow my favorite sports teams.
