Midland International Elementary School

Announcements

  • Starting on September 21st, we will begin bringing students back with a staggered start (see below for details) for full time, in person, instruction. Students will be required to wear masks the entire time they are in the building, so if you are uncomfortable with your child attending in person or wearing a mask, you may continue to have your child participate in on-line learning.

School starts at 8:00am and ends at 2:30pm daily.  There are currently no before or after-school activities and students should not be dropped off before 7:45 a.m. and must be picked up by 2:45 p.m.

To facilitate an orderly physically distanced entrance and exit to the school we will be welcoming students at their classroom door.  All staff will be on-duty and outside directing students until we have a smooth system.  Parents will not be able to accompany students beyond the drop off.  Further details will be coming.

Thank you for your continued support and patience throughout this school year. There are many unknowns and we know you are eager for answers. Please know we are getting them to you as soon as possible. Call the office at (719) 328-4500, your classroom teacher, or me (719) 328-4902, if you have any questions!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

  • Dear Midland Families,

We are very excited to share with you some new plans for Midland starting this school year! You may be aware Principal Jennifer Breeding has submitted her resignation and will be moving on to other opportunities. This provides a unique opportunity to restructure the administration at Midland. Mrs. Karen Newton will now serve jointly as the principal of both Midland Elementary and West Elementary school. Her time will be divided equally between both Midland and West, with the support of a full-time dean at Midland. Mrs. Newton brings both the leadership and expertise to be able to successfully embrace this opportunity. Her experience with the westside community, strong leadership around building positive student culture, and experience leading students and educators to academic success make her the ideal fit for Midland.

In addition to this change, we also want to announce a new academic structure for Midland. In order for our team to focus on our work with the Early Literacy  and the Connect for Success grants, Midland will no longer be designated as an International Baccalaureate (IB) school. This will allow us to appropriately staff our school with additional supports for our English language learners, academic achievement, and the addition of a school dean to support Mrs. Newton.

We thank you for helping make our Midland community a successful and wonderful place for children to learn. In partnership with our families and community, we look forward to the many great things in store for Midland students, staff, and the community!
