HISTORY (IMC)

  • Colorado Springs School District 11 has a long history of video production.  The idea of a cable system to deliver television programming to viewer’s homes was still in its infancy.   Recognizing the potential of the new technology School District 11 entered the field of a cable broadcaster to support the education of the students.    In 1968 the District started the Instructional Materials Center (IMC) to support the schools by giving them access to a District wide materials and instructional film library.  As a part of the IMC, Media Production Services was created and tasked to create new instructional films specific to the needs of the District.   The studio we use today was constructed as part of a major remodel of the South Administration building located on San Rafael St.  The equipment we started with is long gone but some of the original racks are still in use today.
