Elementary

Volunteer Opportunity: District 11 Library Volunteer- 2019-2020 School Year
Serves as support for traditional school library services in either Elementary of Middle school setting. Works with LTE and others in school to ensure libraries are inviting for students and staff. Duties may include assisting with library checkouts, book shelving, interacting with students, or other duties.
Participant responsible to onsite Library Staff
Coordinated Direction: Learning Resource Services-Lori Weaver, Sheri White, or Connie Lupton
Time Required:
Three to four hours per week commitment to a school preferred, with opportunity for more hours as needed at different school locations. Hours and dates are flexible.In-Service Training Provided:
Training will take place with library staff in each school; however, further training is available from LRS-IT upon request.Qualifications:
Willingness to work positively with students and staff.
Willingness to learn
No Library experience necessary
Carver Elementary School
Need volunteers to help with kindergarten class during math block
When: Daily
Time : 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM
Monroe Elementary School
Need volunteers to assist second grade students with reading, computer log on and to keep the students on task during independent task and help answer questions.
When: M, T, W, and/or Fri
Time: 8:30 AM -10:00 AM

Volunteers Needed for D11 Elementary School Science Fairs
Hello Volunteers,
The Science Fair season is upon us once again. Six Colorado Springs School District 11 elementary schools will be hosting Science Fairs. Please click on the button below to access the form and choose one or more of the elementary schools where you wish to serve as a volunteer judge. Please also consider the Regional Science and Engineering Fair on Saturday, April 25, 2020 where the winners from all the elementary schools in the region will compete.

Middle School

Need volunteers to tutor students one hour per week after school. Ideally 2-3 volunteers that are able to tutor math and 2-3 volunteers that are able to tutor reading/language. Tutors are also needed for science and social studies.
When: Any day of the week
Time: 3:40 PM - 4:45 PM
High School

Coronado High School - English As A Second Language - (ESL)
Assist with tutoring/mentoring during class period, working primarily one-on-one with students in grades 9-12. Students are from all over the world but predominately from Spanish speaking countries. Additional duties include clerical work - testing, filing, etc. Hours are flexible during school day, 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Training will be provided in curriculum familiarization, testing procedures, clerical needs.
Doherty High School - Math Tutors
Volunteers need to tutor math to small groups of students in the Math Center. Students will primarily need help with Algebra 1. The Math Center is open from 7:15 a.m. - 3:20 p.m. Volunteer tutors will need to be able to stay at least one class period. Volunteers must have a good knowledge base of Algebra 1 and strong interpersonal communication skills.
Odyssey ECCO-Career Pathways Automotive
Volunteers with auto mechanics experience needed to help with supervision of students Monday thru Friday 7:30am-11:30am.

Palmer High School-Math Tutors
Volunteers needed to tutor students one on one in the math tutoring center. Students need help primarily in Algebra 1 or Geometry. One or two certified staff members will be present at all times. The tutoring center is open 5 days a week for each period, the time is flexible and volunteers usually pick at least two days. Knowledge of basic Algebra is a must and any additional mathematics knowledge would be great. Training is provided.Volunteers comfortable with Algebra 3/4 or Pre-Calculus are also welcomed.
Adult & Family Education

English as a Second Language for Adult International Students
Location- Roy J Wasson Academic Campus
Assist the classroom teacher with small groups of students or individual tutoring for English language development. We work with adult immigrants and refugees from approximately 20 different countries. We need volunteers both mornings and evenings Monday through Thursday for 3-6 hours a week. High Equivalency Preparation for Adult students.
Location- Roy J Wasson Academic Campus
Assist the classroom teacher with instruction in reading, writing, or math skills in order to help students prepare for the GED exam or other high school equivalency diplomas. You may tutor individual students or assist by teaching small groups of students reading strategies or math lessons. We work with students ages 17+. We need volunteers both mornings and evenings Monday through Thursday for 3-6 hours a week. Please contact Carmen Collins for more information.
