• PTA REFLECTIONS CULTURAL ARTS PROGRAM

Celebrate and encourage arts in education by participating in PTAs Reflections program!  This year’s theme is: Show Your Voice.

Reflections is a National PTA cultural arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas; develop artistic literacy; increase confidence and creativity; develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school but in life.

Students in pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a theme. The theme for the 2022-2023 program is “Show your Voice!” Students submit their completed works of art in one, or all, of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

While the primary focus of Reflections is a celebration of creativity and the arts, student artists receive positive recognition at their schools, and finalists move on to their council/region for review and recognition. Finalists then advance to Colorado State PTA, where Gold Award winners advance to the National PTA round for judging. Last year’s National PTA Reflections award-winning entries can be found here.

You can find details for each category in English and Spanish here, and the overall contest rules here.

Prizes will be given for the local contest, and the top winners move on to compete against other works in the El Paso County Reflections Contest. Good luck! Judges will score each piece on Interpretation, Creativity, and Technique! Use the rules and rubric categories to help you figure out what types of files are accepted and how to construct your piece. Good Luck!

based on the artwork itself and the artist statement.
    • Creativity (30 pts.) How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the

    • Technical Skill (30 pts.) The level of skill demonstrated in the basic
