Ms. Avery Schulzki
Hello, my name is Avery Schulzki, and I am a First-grade teacher here at Midland. This is my fourth-year teaching, the past three years I was the preschool teacher at West. I am so excited for this transition and cannot wait for the year has instore.
A little about me. I am a native to the Colorado Springs area and grew up attending District 11 schools: Bates Elementary, Mann Middle School and Palmer High School! Both of my parent’s have been teaching in School District 11 for almost 40 years. My mom just retired from Coronado after teaching for 37 years in total in District 11. She also attended Elementary, Middle and High school in District 11. My dad has been at Palmer High School since 1991 teaching Social Studies in the IB Program. Before my parent’s my grandfather was a high school counselor at both Mitchell and Palmer. My Opa was also a high school Social Studies teacher for 40 years in New Jersey. Also, my sister is a drama teacher in District 11. You could say teaching is in my blood.
In my spare time, you will usually find me out and about or rewatching New Girl for the 10th time. I am so excited to join the Midland team this year. GO MUSTANGS!

Welcome to Fabulous First Grade!
This will be my 11th year teaching first grade at Midland Elementary School! I love seeing first graders blossom into readers throughout the school year! First grade is an amazing transitional year, where your child learns independence and responsibility!
I have been married for 14 years and have two amazing children! I was born and raised in Colorado and went to UCCS, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications! In 2012, I received my Master’s Degree in Education from Regis University!
My family and I enjoy traveling to Glenwood Springs and Long Island every summer!
Midland is a wonderful place to learn and grow!
