Pikes Peak Leadership Academy
Advancing an Initial Principal to a Professional Principal License
The Pikes Peak Leadership Academy is a state-approved Principal & Administrator Induction program required for Principal & Administrators with Initial Licenses to advance to a Professional License. After completing the program, inductees will go to the link identified above, submit the required documentation to include the Induction Certificate of Completion. CDE reviews all information and approves the Professional License.
- Widefield School District 3, Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, and Colorado Springs School District 11 partner to provide a collaborative, interactive, and content-rich program. Classes are thematic and presented by leaders from each district. See the Program Schedule for content topics.
- To earn a Professional Principal/Administrator License, inductees are required to attend ALL classes. Plan on classes to be in-person. PPLA partners will notify inductees in advance if class is to be held virtually. If an inductee misses a class for any reason (district business, illness, or other scenario), the inductee will collaborate with the PPLA partners and their district supervisor to make up the content.
- It is highly recommended the inductee discuss PPLA content with their district-provided mentor to bring the relevance and application of the learning to the inductees’ daily work experience.
- Potential inductees must be currently serving in district-level leadership positions or school-based administrative positions. D11 covers the fees for participants accepted into the PPLA program. If you are not a D11 employee, reach out to your district leadership to see if they have the same incentive. PPLA Fees
