AcademyACL is a free charter public school of choice in Colorado Springs District 11 that specializes in gifted education from kindergarten through eighth grade. AcademyACL opened for its first school year in August 2010.
- This K-8 program provides an academic home specially designed for gifted learners who work above grade level in at least one academic area.
- The school uses a highly challenging, highly supportive environment for gifted students, an integrated curriculum model, and multi-age classrooms, with an open enrollment process and without requiring test scores for admission.
- Teachers provide advanced, above-grade-level curriculum at a faster pace with less repetition for individual students to progress in their areas of strength.
- Specials/Encore subjects include Visual Art, Theater & Music, Spanish, and Physical Education. From across the Pikes Peak Region, enrolled families attend student conferences at every trimester, and provide at least fifteen hours of volunteer service at the school each year.
Weekly tours and student-shadow opportunities are available.
The annual deadline for Requests for Enrollment to be added to the lottery is in late February/early March. After that date, students are added to the bottom of any waiting list. Waiting lists are updated on an ongoing basis.
