Laurilea McDaniel - Visual & Performing Arts Facilitator

Laurilea McDaniel is the Visual and Performing Arts Facilitator for District 11. This is her 20th year in education and she has taught all levels from kindergarten to college. She holds undergraduate degrees in Theatre, Journalism and Education, and a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction for Secondary Theatre Education from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. She is also a Freddie G. Fellow, Class of 2017.

She passionately believes in the power of the arts and how transformative they can be. Everyone has a story worthy of being heard. Arts programs encourage confidence and give students a voice!

Jen Lennon - Arts Integration Instructional Specialist

Jen Lennon serves as the K-12 Arts Integration Support Specialist for District 11. She has spent almost 30 years in education and 45 years as a performer on stage. Jen has taught drama, music, and dance as well as grade level content areas to all level students from preschool to undergraduates. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Performance Studies and a Master and Science in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University as well as certification in Colorado, Illinois and Ontario, Canada.

Jen believes in the power of the creative process to engage and empower all people. Arts education, arts enhancement and arts integration are essential elements in developing an understanding of the world and one’s place in that world. Thought the arts we open avenues of learning, communication, and finding our unique voice.
