• Students Arriving to and Leaving from School:

    • Students may not leave the school grounds during the day without permission from their parent/guardian.
    • Messages and early checkouts need to be requested from the office before 2:15 p.m. Message delivery cannot be guaranteed after 2:15 p.m.
    • Parent/guardians must come to the school office to sign-out a student being picked up before the school day is over. Classroom instruction continues to the very end of the school day. Students leaving early could miss out on important learning! Parent/guardians are encouraged to schedule medical, dental and all other appointments before or after school hours, except in case of student illness.
    • Students should always use crosswalks should they need to cross the street to get home. Crossing guards are provided in front of the school on Circle Drive and at the corner of Pikes Peak and Circle Drive. Parents should help their children determine a safe walking route home.

    Keeping Students After School

    • We are permitted by District 11 policy to keep students a minimum of twenty (20) minutes after school without calling parent/guardians. If the child is kept longer, then the parent/guardian will be contacted. If this policy causes undue hardship for your circumstances, please contact your child's teacher to make other arrangements.
    • BUS STUDENTS - Teachers will consult with parents of students who ride the bus before this action occurs.
    • We ask all parents to emphasize to their children the importance of completing daily work.

    Medication/Immunization

    • No medication will be administered by any school personnel except with a written statement from a physician. A form is available in the front office for this purpose. Please do not send medicine to school with your child without this statement. This includes any form of penicillin, cough medicine, cough drops, and aspirin. If your child is taking medication temporarily, you are more than welcome to come to the school office and administer the medicine to your child.
    • Students are required to complete the immunization requirements as established by Colorado State Law. Forms are available at the school or Public Health Office.

All textbooks and other materials belonging to the school must be returned. We will send all records to the new school upon request of that school.

    School Records

    • The school office keeps an up-to-date enrollment file for each student. It is very important that we have working telephone numbers in order to reach parents in case of emergency. We request the correct phone numbers of at least 3 responsible parties be maintained with the front office. We also request the name of the student's doctor and hospital preference in case of emergency.

    School Telephone

    • Telephones at school are limited to use by staff. Students will be allowed to use school phones in cases of emergency or by permission from school staff. Please inform your child(ren) ahead of time if after school transportation plans vary from normal. Delivering messages to the classroom is disruptive to learning and should be avoided if possible.

     Special Services

    • A social worker, counselor, speech therapist, learning disabilities specialist, and itinerant nurse are on staff to serve students on an as needed basis. The school nurse is only at Rogers one day a week. Parents who have specific concerns are asked to contact the classroom teacher or principal for referral to any of these specialists.

    Child Abuse or Neglect

    • Any school employee who has reasonable cause to suspect child abuse or neglect must report this immediately to the principal. The school principal or social worker must report the suspected abuse to the El Paso County Department of Social Services immediately. Responsibility for investigation and follow-up lies with the Department of Social Services. The school is barred from contacting parent/guardians before the authorities are called. If parent/guardians inquire, the only information the school can release is the name of the caseworker. Concerned citizens are encouraged to report suspected child abuse or neglect, and are immune from any liability as long as the report is made in good faith. Call 719-630-6951 (8am to 5pm) or 719-475-9593 (5pm to 8pm).

     Grades

However, parents are encouraged to make an appointment with their student's teacher any time they feel a conference is needed. Coordination with the teacher prior to the conference is required. Parents are asked to discuss assignments with students, to encourage their completion and to see that they are returned to school. Any questions regarding the assignment may be directed to your child's teacher by note, phone or Class Dojo.
