The Gifted & Talented Office is pleased to offer SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted) Parent Discussion Groups. These groups are intended to offer parenting support and strategies relating to the unique social-emotional needs of gifted children. Groups will be facilitated by SENG Trained gifted teachers. Groups are not classes or therapy but, instead, focus on conversation and sharing resources. We are offering two different session times for a period of six weeks each. Please register using the link above.
D11 GT will follow the strict SENG guidelines for facilitation and group management to include:
-
Trained SENG facilitators leading the group
-
A diversified group of parents from many schools and through different grade levels.
-
Neutral location
-
90 minute session length
-
A maximum of 15 parent couples per group
-
No children may attend sessions and no childcare is provided
-
Full commitment of parent(s) to attend every session
-
Distribution of the required text for parent couples to use and keep
-
Free Membership to SENG
-
Light refreshments will be served
We are very excited to bring this unique district opportunity to parents of our gifted students. We are planning on more sessions during the second semester to accommodate as many families as possible. Over time, it is our intention to increase the number of SENG trained facilitators within District 11 which will allow for more sessions that impact and support more families.
