My award-winning choirs have performed in Elitch's, California (Disneyland), New Orleans, and at Carnegie Hall. I sing and play keyboard, guitar and bass. I am also a published composer/arranger. SPECIAL - IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

Hey all - yes, I know this is the first day of the long break, but since we really aren't sure how everything will play out after April 1, there are a number of things that still need to happen before the end of the year, and some things that you need to stay up on for when we get back and finish up the year. Pay attention to what will apply to your choir (CS - Chambers, MM - Jazz, WC - Women's, TB - Men's), and check any deadlines that I put out there, because I still need to make sure I have time to complete things correctly. Here goes:

    1. (CS, WC, TB, MM) - You should be doing sight reading every day. Go to Sightreadingfactory.com and login: username - Jeffrey.peckham@d11.org, password - Palmer79. You can customize your own level. Since you are all logging in the same way, put your choir and initials on anything you program, and I will be able to monitor what is happening. I will be giving a grade for this, so if you never log in, that would result in a zero. If you cannot access this, let me know ASAP and I will modify.
    2. (MM, WC, CS?) - A great jazz website - Musichabit.com - sign up and login for free, and go to the Practice Room - you can access several lessons on vocal improv, scat, jazz piano, and a few other things. This site is by Michelle Weir, and she has said that more content is coming for free. If you are in jazz, or are thinking of auditioning for jazz - this is for you. Again, get on this as much as possible - do all of the lessons you can!

    3. Also check out Musictheory.net - a great site to work on your music reading skills, and aural skills (intervals, chords, etc.). Sign up for free, and do the lessons starting from the beginning.

    4. (MM, CS, WC?) Juniors and seniors - I need your lettering lists by the end of this week. Seniors, I will be ordering your senior medals, and finishing up all award lists during the time we are away. At this point I don't know if we will officially have our spring concert or not, but we will work out some way to do the final stuff.

    5. (CS, MM, WC, TB) ALL CHOIRS - stay up on your music. I don't know how this year will end, but we will be looking at alternatives to be able to present your music. If you have FEASIBLE ideas, share them and let's do this right - get creative, and let's have fun doing it!

Palmer Choirs don't give up. We will find a way!

Finally - please know that none of this is meant as busywork, or stopgap measures just because of everything happening around us. What I have given you, I really want you to do, because it will continue to sharpen your skills, and make it even better when we get back together! You are the best - I miss you already, and can't wait until we are back together making awesome music!

    EXCELLENCE ALWAYS!!
