Web 2.0

Clusty is a metasearch engine developed by Vivisimo and built on unique Web search technology developed by Carnegie Mellon University researchers. It presents results in clusters, a group of similar topics that are related to the original query, giving users a quick overview of the main themes in the results.  Students will also benefit by looking at the clusters, sources and the sites

Kartoo is a metasearch engine that displays the results in a colorful, graphic format.  By running your cursor over the individual graphic, a small thumbnail of the page with brief description appears in the left column.  A listing of "see also" topics are also found in the same column. The sponsored results ae marked with a green dot.

Pagebull returns thumbnails of the websites that match your query, helping you find a certain page easier.  Every screenshot highlights the keywords entered by the users and can be configures to multiple sizes.

Quintura clusters related search terms to the initial query and presents those terms as a tag cloud.  Users can refine their searches by clicking on any word in the cloud words that are closer and bigger than other words are more correlated to the initial query than other terms.  Mousing over any word in the cloud shows related terms as well.  Like Clusty, Quintura is useful for reserach or browsing-based searching to find more information on a give topic.
