SIDEKICKS

The SideKicks
project is designed to be a mentor project, one that matches student requests
for a single interview and/or shadow opportunity in a specified career with an
adult employed in the particular career field. To assure the quality, the mentor, the student, the
parent, and the teacher evaluate each match.
Tips for a Successful SideKicks Shadow:
- Applications require a minimum of three (3) weeks to process.
- Choose your dates carefully. Shadows will only be rescheduled because of
snow days and/or emergencies.
- Please take note of the location of the shadow and be aware that
transportation is the responsibility of the student and parent(s).
- Parents may accompany students to the shadow.
- Please discuss with your teacher and parent interviewing techniques,
proper attire, a list of prepared questions, and note-taking procedures.
- Confirmations will be sent to the teacher/volunteer and student. All
inquiries and changes need to be done through the SideKicks Manager 520-2302.
- A photograph of your SideKicks experience is appreciated and may be used
in various publications pertaining to this program.
Be sure to return the parent and student SideKick Evaluations after the
shadow. This is an important tool in evaluating the program.
