Safety Presentation (Electric Power and You (third grade through adult)

Our safety program uses a desk-top sized demonstration unit to represent both overhead and underground distribution systems. The language and depth are geared toward the appropriate age groups. The demonstrator explains how the safe use of electricity can affect all aspects of our daily activities.  In addition, safety materials, such as activity books, stickers and safety tips, are distributed.  The entire presentation lasts 30-60 minutes depending on the audience age. A TV, VCR, six-foot table and electrical plug are required.

Natural Gas (second through fifth grades)
Sniffasaurus our natural gas mascot,  visits your classroom for this presentation, which includes a Sniffy video,  large graphic posters and physical demonstrations.  The presentation teaches children where natural gas comes from and what to do if you smell natural gas in your home or school.  Safety materials, including a natural gas odor card, activity book and stickers, are distributed to the students.  Depending on the number of classes involved, the presentation lasts 25 to 45 minutes.  A TV, VCR and a six-foot table are required.

Water Resources (second through fifth grades)
Ollie,  a five-and-a-half-foot fuzzy otter,  visits your school to teach students about the water cycle,  where Colorado Springs gets its water,  how we clean it - not once but twice,  and how important it is to help conserve and protect our most precious resource.  Ollie also leaves the students with an activity book, sticker and "hero" ribbon.  Depending on the number of classes involved, the presentation lasts approximately 30 minutes.  A TV and VCR are required.

Environmental (third through sixth grades)
We offer a presentation on raptors that shows our commitment to raptor protection efforts on power lines.  The presentation covers such topics as raptor characteristics, adaptations, identification, natural history,  basic biology and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.  The presentation lasts approximately 30 to 35 minutes and requires a six-foot table for the bird display.  Please note, this presentation has not been developed for state curriculum standards.~ Free facility tours are available upon request!
