SPECIAL INTEREST DAY GUIDELINES

Special Interest Days, Art Focus Days, Multi-Cultural Days, Career Days, etc. may be scheduled through the Community Resource Bank by following these guidelines:

Establish a budget. The school is financially responsible for purchasing all supplies required, as well as any stipends requested by speakers and/or substitute payment for district personnel. Every effort is made to secure volunteer speakers but in some situations speakers ask for reimbursement.

Select a date at least 8 weeks in advance and advise Volunteer Services. The Community Resource Bank is limited on the number of special interest days that can be scheduled.

Assign a school liaison to coordinate a meeting with a representative of Volunteer Services to discuss details.

A Special Interest Day is an excellent opportunity to encourage parent involvement. Volunteer Services will coordinate with school volunteer chairman to schedule parent volunteers.
