Colorado Springs Fire Department’s

Student Fire and Life Safety Program

Purpose:  Introduce basic fire and life safety behaviors to kindergarten students.

Description:  A complete Fire and Life Safety program is available to your kindergarten classrooms.  Safety behaviors taught will include calling 9-1-1 in an emergency, the meaning of EXIT signs, get out and stay out, and matches and lighters are tools not toys. Kindergarten students will meet Sparky the Firedog (puppet) and learn that firefighters are friends. The presentation is interactive and will encourage children to practice a fire drill, make a promise to never touch matches and lighters and uses repetitive exercises to emphasize fire safety messages.  

Audience:   Kindergarteners  

Size:  1 - 2 classrooms per session.  

Available:  By appointment throughout the school year.

 Note:  This program is taught by a Colorado Springs Fire Department Fire

 & Life Safety Educator.
