The Tale Tellers, an intergenerational storytelling troupe, are performing for the thirteenth year for youth in El Paso County as a FREE community service.  Their mission is to pass on the values, wisdom and humor in good literature, while promoting literacy and the ancient art of storytelling.

Storytelling has many creative applications in education as an interactive and multi-disciplinary tool:

hMotivates the development of reading skills

hIntroduces character building and conflict resolution

hImproves students’ listening, thinking skills and broadens their vocabulary

hAllows ‘armchair travel’ to promote understanding of different races and cultures.

hHelps children identify themselves as members of the human experience to alleviate feelings

    of alienation

The storytellers have an ever-widening repertoire with legends, poetry and folklore, historic tales of pioneers or Colorado history, old and new stories of foreign lands, animals, trains, and many more.  Some may use a costume, props, music, maps, or puppets to create rich and memorable experiences in the finest oral tradition.  Please complete the request form on the other side to request a Tale Teller.  Available for Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
